The Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) on September 21-22, 2018. Entitled Update Obstetric and Gynecologic Topics, the CME sessions were attended in person by ESOG members based in Addis Ababa.
Broadcast from the EPHI center, the CME session live video reached other attendees at ESOG’s branch offices in Hawassa, Harara, Bahir Dar and Jimma.
Broadcasting live CME sessions to remotely-located attendees was one of the objectives of the CME Thematic Area of the ESOG-ACOG-CIRHT Collaborative Project. Such transmissions ease the burden of long-distance travel and related costs, not to mention the burden on service provision whenever physicians travel away from their work places for training. The sessions are also recorded so they can be accessed on ESOG’s official website. The online live videos will be disabled two months after their publication. The CME session at EPHI can be accessed here.
The ESOG-ACOG-CIRHT collaborative project was launched in June, 2016, with the objective of addressing four thematic areas: Residency, CME, Ethiopian Journal of OB-Gyn, and Certification and Accreditation. The thematic areas to be addressed by the collaborative project later added IT, PR & Communications and Leadership Development, as well as developing a Code of Ethics.
